Volunteer Luncheon - A Huge Success

After much planning,working out menus, guest speakers, trophies, door prize, entertainment, table settings, sending out invitations to our members and some minor hic-ups we finally had our Volunteer Luncheon.

Our luncheon was held on 13th May, at Wests in The Starlight Room,with guests arriving at 10.00am, greeted by the sounds of wonderful background music by "After Three", and smiles from our volunteers who maned the welcoming table. The guests were then treated to a selection of savories and fruit punch.

I must say the tables looked great; white table cloths, red and blue serviettes with red and blue balloons filled with heillum swaying to the breeze of the air conditioners. Our powerpoint presentation looked pretty impressive showing what volunteers can do.

Mr Tony Ross, manager of HVC, welcomed everyone and introduced the president of HVC Board Of Management Mr John Donnan, Lord Mayor of Newcastle and patron of HVC Mr John Tate,and Ross Bingham, Executive Officer of Ronald McDonald House. Representives from Newcastle Airport also attended the Luncheon.

With everyone seated we were then treated to some magic from "Fingers Demain", and that had most people wondering,"how did he do that"? Clever man!

Lunch was served by the lovely staff; African Spiced Leg of Lamb, or Wild Reef Snapper Fillets followed by tea or coffee with Petit Fours. "After Three "played in the back ground with Wayne Van Keren singing a few songs. What a talented man, and he volunteers for HVC!

The day was a huge success with many saying that they would be back next year.

We had to put a cost on this years luncheon of $40.00 but those that attended would have been quite surprised at the standard of this function.

Where else can you go and get a selection of hot and cold savories with punch, followed by a scrumptious meal, tea/coffee and Petit Fours plus top entertainment?
