Nominations for the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award are open until 30 September 2010. HVC is calling on our community based organisations to, once again, nominate as many volunteers as possible.
"We know without them (volunteers) our community would not be able as strong as it is. Here is our chance as a region to showcase the true capacity and abilities of our region's volunteers", says the manager of the Hunter Volunteer Centre, Tony Ross, remembering that Hunter Valley resident Liz Mullinar AM was named 2009 NSW Volunteer of the Year.
The 2010 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award program is run at a Regional and State level. The Regional Youth, Senior and Volunteer Team winners will be announced in ceremonies from mid-October to mid-November and then be entered for the title of 2010 NSW Volunteer of the Year to be presented on Friday, 3 December at Parliament House in Sydney.
The event is the only annual awards program committed to recognise all volunteers in NSW. There are currently 2.4 million volunteers in the state and this is the chance to celebrate and recognise the selfless effort they make to improve community life. These people generously give more than 235 million work hours each year in NSW, contributing an extraordinary $ 5 billion to the State's economy.
